FYNES-CLINTON, CHARLES FRANCIS, eldest son of Henry Fynes-Clinton (adm. 1796, qv), and his second wife; b. 6 Mar 1815; adm. 6 Apr 1828; left May 1832; Christ Church, Oxford, matr. 13 Dec 1832; BA 1836; went to Spain 1838; served in the army of Queen Christina, and decorated by Espartero with the Cross of St. Ferdinand, for gallantry; British arbitrator with Portugal for the abolition of slavery Sep 1843; d. at Loanda, Angola 5 Jun 1844.
