        Garrett, Ernest Phillips, fourth son of Lewis Berry Garrett, of Maida Vale, by Marion, daughter of George Morton, of Wembley; b. Sept. 7, 1875; adm. as Q.S. Jan. 16, 1890; elected head to Ch. Ch. Oxon. July 1894, matric. Oct. 1894; lst class Mathematics (Mods.) 1895; 1st class Natural Science (Geology) 1897; B.A. 1898; won the sabre against Cambridge in the Inter-Univ. Competition 1899; passed into the Indian Civil Service after the exam. of 1898; arrived in India Nov. 1899; asst. Collector and Magistrate, Belgaum, Bombay; d. at Belgaum April 5, 1901.
