Biographical history

IMPEY, ELIJAH BARWELL, son of Sir Elijah Impey (qv); bapt. 6 Aug 1779; adm.; at school 1791; Min. Can. (aged 13) 1793; KS 1794; Capt. of the School 1798; elected head to Christ Church, Oxford 1799, matr. 22 May 1799, Westminster Student 24 Dec 1799 – Nov 1806, Faculty Student from 4 Nov 1806; BA 1803; MA 1806; Cornet, 14th Light Dragoons 15 Dec 1808; retd. Jun 1809; his Memoirs of his father, written “in refutation of the calumnies of the Right Hon. Thomas Babington Macaulay”, were published in 1846, and contain interesting references to the school and to his schoolfellows; d. unm. 3 May 1849.
