GODFREY, RICHARD, son of Thomas Godfrey MP, Sellinge, Kent, and his second wife Sarah, dau. of Thomas Iles, Hammersmith, Middlesex, Procurator of the Arches; b. 8 Apr 1619; adm.; KS; elected to Christ Church, Oxford 1637, matr. 7 Jul 1637, Westminster Student; BA 1641; MA 1647; took the Solemn League and Covenant; a delegate to the Parliamentary Visitors 30 Sep 1647, and “willingly” submitted to the Visitation 1648 (Burrows, 71); d. 23 Mar 1648/9. Buried Christ Church Cathedral, memorial tablet in East Cloister, Westminster Abbey.
