IMPEY, EDWARD, youngest son of Sir Elijah Impey (qv); b. 25 Feb 1785; adm. 29 Sep 1794 (Clapham); in school list 1795; KS 1799; Writer, EICS Bengal 13 Oct 1800; arrived in India 24 Oct 1801; Assistant to Judge and Magistrate, Birbhum1803; held various other appointments; Judge and Magistrate, Jungle Mehauls 24 Aug 1810; Judge and Magistrate, Murshidabad City 25 Jan 1812; Judge and Magistrate, Cuttack, and Superintendent, Tributary Mehauls 13 May 1814; Acting Judge, Provincial Court of Appeal, Murshidabad 3 Feb 1818; suspended from office 30 Nov 1819; returned to England 1819; dismissed from EICS 27 Nov 1822; went to live in Paris, but returned to England before his death; m. 31 Oct 1813 Julia, eldest dau. of Chevalier Antoine de L’Etang, veterinary surgeon, France and India; d. 29 Aug 1858.
