William Freind by Thomas Bardwell

Reverend William Freind (1714-66) as a scholar aged 13, in a carved wooden frame; he is standing in a library wearing a scholar's gown. Freind had four children, the youngest of whom John, succeeded to the estates of his maternal uncle, Richard Robinson, Bishop of Armagh, Baron Rokeby, to become Sir John Robinson.

Black blazer with wide pink and narrow shite stripe. Three buttonholes at centre closure with brass buttons (one button missing); two brass buttons at each cuff. Embroidered Westminster School crest patch on breast pocket. 'Geo. Hodgkinson' manufacturer's label. Manufactured by George Harrison. Missing lowest button at centre front. Stained and faded.
