XXII' Caps

Navy wool caps embroidered with a pink 'XXII'. Eight triangular panels meet at apex, covered by a button. The bill make up nearly half of the cap’s depth, one horizontal pleat extends away from bill on both sides. Inside, the cap is lined with black silk, constructed of two pieces – a rectangle gathered in a circle and sewn to a disk in the centre. Conserved by students at the Centre for Textile Conservation at the University of Glasgow in 2015.

Red Cap

Red wool cap with faded blue silk stripes. Red wool cap with eight 10 mm wide blue faded to white silk ribbons on exterior. Brim stiffened with paper card(?). Lined with yellow glazed cotton. Conserved by students at the Centre for Textile Conservation at the University of Glasgow in 2015.

Cream 'TB' Cap

Cream wool with 'TB' embroidered in gold and purple. Crown constructed of 8 segments meeting at crown with button. Cotton lining with size ‘6 ¾’ stamped on a strip of tape stitched across centre of crown. Largely machine stitched but with some lining handsewn to outer and previous repairs. Conserved by students at the Centre for Textile Conservation at the University of Glasgow in 2015.

C.A. Dunn & Co. Top Hat

Black top hat in leather hat box. Minor wear to underside of hat brim. Hat box exterior cracked and marked. Black top hat manufactured by C.A. Dunn & Co., with black felt band and cream lining. Lockable leather hat box, marked with initials G.C., with red satin lining. Green brush.

Navy Colts Cap

Navy wool caps embroidered with a pink 'C'. Top of cap is composed of 8 blue triangle and small button on the top. The interior of the hat contains a twill woven black liner fabricated utilizing a circle centre component and rectangular section creating the dome shape. Label inside states “M. Broadhurst - AHH” Conserved by students at the Centre for Textile Conservation at the University of Glasgow in 2015.
