Elizabethan Club Ball 2010

The Elizabethan Club Ball took place within the grounds of The Abbey and The School, on 9th July 2010, to celebrate the 450th Anniversary of Westminster School. Includes documents relating to the planning and preparation of the Ball, which began in 2007.

Royal Events

This series contains items concerning events held in Westminster Abbey which directly concern the Royal Family, such as Coronations, Weddings and Funerals, as well as a small number of additional events such as coronation and wedding anniversaries. Not all events attended by the Royal Family are held in this series and such events where a representative of the Royal Family was present but the event had a different primary focus are held elsewhere in the Westminster Abbey collection, as best suits their primary theme.

Sketches and drawings of the drop scenes for the Latin Play. Also included is a drawing for costume design. The sub-series is incomplete.

Programme for performance of Andria. Gives a synopsis of the plot of the play and also gives an obituary list of school alumni. A list of cast members is on the front page.

Westminster School

Addresses for the College Play

Volume containing lists of names and addresses of attendees to be sent tickets to the College Latin Play for the year 1856. School alumni are indicated by the abbreviation 'O.W.' and the performance for which tickets should be sent is given next to names. There are some later annotations giving dates of death for some attendees. Names are indexed alphabetically.

Protests against abolition

The sub-series contains indexes of names of those protesting against the discontinuation of the Latin Play, as well as correspondence on this subject. Some material has been taken from the A series. Where this is the case the previous reference number is given.

Index of names of those protesting against the abolition of the Latin Play in 1852. The volume also contains indexes of names for: Subscribers for Lusus Alteri Westmones (1867; List of subscribers to Marshall Testimontial Elizabethan Club Report (1877); Subscribers to Scott Testimonial (1885) and Names of Westminster Past and Present (1884)

Epilogues and Prologues

Handwritten and printed Epilogues and Prologues which were composed to be spoken at performances of the Latin Plays. Prologues were often composed by the Headmaster and contained obituraries for school alumni. Epilogues were composed by the King's Scholars and performed in modern dress, offering a satire of contemporary world events. The sub-series is incomplete.
