        Kinsman (or Kynnesman), Arthur; son of Harold Kinsman (or Kynnesman), St.Michael’s Cornhill, London, mercer, and his second wife Amy Dentry ; b. 25 Dec 1682 ; ed. Christ’s Hospital Sch. and Trinity Coll.Cambridge, adm. sizar 30 Jun 1702 ; BA 1705 ; MA 1709 ; ordained deacon 23 Sep 1710 (Peterborough), priest 22 Mar 1712/3 (London) ; “brought to Westminster by that excellent master Mr George Tollet when he was second master”; Usher in 1714 (Letter Books of John Hervey, First Earl of Bristol, 1894, 390-1, where Lord Bristol records in a letter dated 26 Jun 1714 that “Dr Friend, the master of Westminster School … has recommended Mr.Kinsman, one of his assistants … who he assures me is in every way qualified for that employment”, to succeed as Head Master of Bury St.Edmunds School in the event of a vacancy) ; Head Master, Bury St.Edmunds Sch. 1715-45 ; “an excellent master, a very sufficient scholar” (Cumberland, Memoirs, 23), who expanded the school,to some 150 pupils and secured it an excellent reputation ; he “formed his scholars upon the system of Westminster” ; Rector of Barnham, Suffolk, from 11 May 1722 ; Reader, St.James, Bury St.Edmunds, Suffolk, 13 Jul – 13 Sep 1751 ; Rector of Eriswell, Suffolk, from 6 Jun 1766 ; author, A Short Introduction to Grammar, 1768 ; m.
