Robert Alexander Lambert, Royal Navy, and Catherine, dau. of Thomas [or Matthew ?] Byndloss, Jamaica; b. 28 Apr 1772; at Charterhouse Sch. 1782-8; at school under Vincent (Steward, Anniversary Dinner 1845); Ensign, 1st Foot Guards 27 Jan 1791; Lieut. and Capt., 9 Oct 1793; Capt. and Lieut. -Col, 14 May 1801; Col. in the Army 25 Jul 1810; Maj. -Gen., 4 Jun 1813; Col., 10th Foot, from 18 Jan 1824; Lieut. -Gen., 27 May 1825; Gen., 23 Nov 1841; served in Flanders 1793-4, in Ireland during rebellion of 1798, in expedition to the Helder 1799, in Peninsular War 1808-9, 1812-4, in Walcheren expedition 1809 and in America 1815; commanded 10th Brigade of British Infantry at battle of Waterloo 18 Jun 1815, and subsequently 8th Infantry Brigade of Army of Occupation, France; KCB 2 Jan 1815; GCB 19 Jul 1838; m. 19 Oct 1816 Jane, dau. of John Morant, Brockenhurst Park, Hampshire; d. 14 Sep 1847.
