        MASTER, WILLIAM CHESTER, eldest son of Maj. Richard Master MP, 24th Foot, subsequently a London banker and Governor of Tobago, and Isabella Frances, dau. of Lieut. - Col. William Egerton MP, 2nd Troop, Royal Horse Guards; nephew of Thomas Master (b. 1744, qv); b. 4 Jan 1785; adm. 11 Feb 1799; left Mich. 1799; Ensign, 3rd Foot Guards 5 Feb 1801; Lieut. and Capt., 25 Jul 1805; Capt. and Lieut. -Col., 9 Dec 1813; retd. 28 Dec 1820; served in Peninsular War and at battle of Waterloo; a Gentleman Usher of the Privy Chamber from 31 Oct 1808; of Knole Park, Gloucs.; JP Gloucestershire; m. 20 Aug 1814 Isabella Margaret, dau. of Hon. Stephen Digby (qv); d. 20 Nov 1868.
