HARRY, brother of Charles Mordaunt, 3rd Earl of Peterborough and 1st Earl of Monmouth (qv); b. 29 Mar 1663; adm.; KS (Capt. ) 1676; tried at the Old Bailey 15 Oct 1679, with David Jones and John Osbaldeston (qvv), for murder of a bailiff, but acquitted (Elizabethan xviii, 83); elected to Christ Church, Oxford 1680, matr. 17 Dec 1680, Westminster Student 18 Dec 1680 – void 1687; BA 1684; Lieut. of a corps of Christ Church and other men who trained privately in Peckwater Quadrangle during the panic caused by Monmouth’s rebellion (Wood, Ath. Oxon., i, cii-ciii); adm.
