Staying with the Spencers at Althorp. Persae on the point of publication. Begs for the Medea as soon as possible.

Date probable, in view of preceding. Staying at The Hummums rather than at Eastey's. Too busy to visit St Mary Cray, but hopes to see PE in town. Lack of contributions to Museum Criticum - hopes for some notes on the Medea from PE.

Congratulations on PE's various preferments. Museum Criticum No 8 about to be printed, inc. a review by B of PE's Bacchae (intended for last no.). Will add a review of Hermann's Bacchae. Has glanced at PE's OC. He only does Greek in the summer vacations in the country.

Museum Criticum No 7 on point of publication - more than enough material. Review of PE's Bacchae - may be sent to Giffoerd at the Quarterly, or may be given to Monk. Response to Burgess' charges of plagiarism against B. Writer of review of B's Agamemnon in the last Quarterly identified. Too busy to get to Althorp this winter. Doing less Classics and being more of a cleric. Asks for notes on the Knights, as they are proceeding with Museum Criticum No 8.

Re a cousin of PE who wishes to go to Cambridge (for first degree and then a fellowship). B believes Trinity is the only college to offer fellowships to Scotchmen. Has applied a little too late, and may be better advised to go up in October 1822.

Various textual observations. Jokes re low cost of foreign Greek books. Hermann's views on Porson - he has sent B some books; B hopes that Hermann doesn't know that B wrote a review of his Photius in the Edinburgh Review.
