Cork 1703-15; Privy Councillor (I) Oct 1704; Grand Tour (Italy) 1706-7; created Baron Perceval (I) 21 Apr 1715, Viscount Perceval (I) 25 Feb 1722/3, and Earl of Egmont (I) 6 Nov 1733; MP Harwich 1727-34; Recorder of Harwich 1728-34; thrice refused offer of English peerage; first President of province of Georgia 9 Jun 1732, actively superintending its colonisation; collected the materials for the General History of the House of Yvery, 1742, compiled under his guidance by James Anderson; author, essays and pamphlets; m. 20 Jun 1710 Catharine, eldest dau. of Sir Philip Parker (afterwards Parker-a-Morley), Bart.; d. 1 May 1748.
