PHILLIMORE, WILLIAM THORNTON, second son of William Phillimore (at school under Vincent, qv); b. 5 Jul 1821; adm. 20 Jan 1834 (Benthall's); Min. Can. 1835; at Charterhouse Sch. 1836-8; Cadet, EICS Bengal 1839; Ensign, 10th Native Infantry 9 Oct 1840; Lieut., 23 Nov 1841; Capt., 8 Mar 1855; served in Indian Mutiny; killed by mutineers near Bithur 12 Mar 1857.
