Oxford 1736); Minor Fellow, Trinity Coll. 2 Oct 1706, Major Fellow 25 Apr 1707-26, Tutor 1707-20; Regius Professor of Greek, Cambridge Univ. 1712-26; took part in the quarrel between the Fellows and the Master of Trinity, and was one of the witnesses against Bentley in the trial before the Bishop of Ely 19 Jul 1733; ordained deacon (London) 19 Jun 1709, priest (Ely) 21 Feb 1713/4; Rector of Standish, Lancs., from 1724; d. 12 Feb 1760.
