PLUKENET, LEONARD, son of Robert Plukenet, Westminster, and Elizabeth ---; b. 4 Jan 1641/2; in school list 1656; Hart Hall, Oxford, matr. 28 Nov 1662; practised as a physician in London, having probably taken the degree of MD abroad; resided in St. Margaret’s Lane, Old Palace Yard, Westminster, where he had a small botanical garden; appointed Superintendent of Royal Gardens, Hampton Court, by Queen Mary II; author, various books on botanical topics; lic. to m. 6 Nov 1669 Letitia, dau. of George Manley, St. Margaret’s, Westminster; d. 6 Jul 1706.
