Sept. 12, 1917; attached R.F.C.; Observer June 29, 1918; served in Great War I; shot down while flying Sept. 1, 1918, and landed in Holland from a Dutch boat; rejoined the Army March 1920; recommissioned in the R.A.F. June 1921; Flight Lieut. April 23, 1930; Sqdn. Ldr. April 1, 1937; m. Maria Johanna, only daughter of Emile von Koninghberg, of the Hague, sometime chief engineer to the Roumanian Govt.; killed in a flying accident at Lincoln on May 26, 1937ยท
