        Rees, Herbert George Powell, son of Herbert Percy Powell Rees, of Ealing, by Marie Louise, daughter of John Randolph Dilleber, of New York, U.S.A.; b. Oct. 20, 1897; adm. April 26, 1912 (H); left July 1913; Sub-Lieut. R.N.V.R. Oct. 5, 1915; Lieut. June 30, 1917; temp. Capt. R.A.F. April 1, 1918; crashed while on aircraft patrol near Gravesend Oct. 25, 1916; served in France, the Mediterranean, and on the Indian frontier; an engineer; emigrated to South Africa 1938 and was manager of the Durban branch of the Encyclopaedia Britannica; served in Great War II as Major, S.A.A.F.; m. Feb. 28, 1925, Octobera Nerquise, youngest daughter of John Meurig Edwards, of Swansea; d. Nov. 21, 1952.
