        SCOTT, JOHN LEE, son of William Brown Scott, Uxbridge, Middlesex, and Emma Lee (IGI); b. 29 Dec 1820; adm. 2 Apr 1834 (Benthall's); KS 1835; left 1837; entered merchant navy; shipwrecked in ship Kite off Chusan Sep 1840, imprisoned by Chinese until Feb 1841; [presumably John L. Scott, clerk in civil service, aged 63 (sic), living Villa Road, Lambeth, Surrey, with wife Sophia L. Scott, 1881 Census]; author, A Recent Imprisonment in Chusan, 1841; m. 14 Jul 1849 Sophia Louisa, third dau. of James Oliphant, Bedford Place, London; living in 1908.
