Sandhurst Sept. 1913; 2nd Lieut. 1st Batt. the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) Aug. 12, 1914; went out to the western front Sept. 1914; mentioned in despatches; killed in action at Ypres, Flanders, Oct. 26, 1914.
