June 3, 1918; asst. to director of British Cotton Industry Research Association, Didsbury, Manchester, Jan. 1924; asst. director of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce Testing House and Laboratory 1937; director 1946-59; Capt. R.A. (T.A. Res.) Jan. 1940; commissioned (H. Guard) June 1940-5; m. April 9, 1927, Nancy Charlotte, elder daughter of George Herbert Lancashire, M.D., of Manchester; d. 11 June 1984.
