Cambridge 1685); DD 1698; ordained deacon 2 Mar 1681/2, priest 11 Jun 1682 (both Oxford); Rector of Wood Norton, Norfolk 1691/2-8; Rector of St. Maryís, Newington Butts, Surrey, from 1698; Rector of Bermondsey, Surrey 10 Feb 1723/4 - 1726/7; referred to by Sir Richard Steele in no. 55 of the Tatler as ìMr. Caswellî; his Autobiography, printed Camden Miscellany II (Camden Soc. Pub., 1st ser., lv), contains many interesting references to his school life; author, Antichrist revealed among the Sect of Quakers, 1723, and other works; m. 21 May 1695 Frances, dau. of Rev. Edward Lake DD, Archdeacon and Prebendary of Exeter; d. 16 Jun 1731.
