THROCKMORTON, RAPHAEL, son of Rev. Raphael Throckmorton, Rector of Bolingbroke, Lincs., and his second wife Dorothy Pacye; bapt. Bolingbroke, Lincs. 9 Feb 1600/1; adm.; KS ; elected to Christ Church, Oxford 1618, Westminster Student to 1620; [BA, check]; MA 6 Mar 1629/30; DD 7 Aug 1660 (incorp. Cambridge 1662); ordained deacon 27 May 1621, priest 23 Sep 1621 (both Peterborough); Rector of Swaby, Lincs., from 1624; Rector of South Ormsby, Lincs., 1629; Archdeacon of Lincoln from 1645 (but not installed until 12 Sep 1660); sequestered by Westminster Assembly 1646; Prebendary of Lincoln from 1 Oct 1660; in the letters patent creating him DD at Oxford “his particular and eminent sufferings for us and for the church” are referred to : m. 9 Feb 1629 Alice, dau. of William Pigge, Wisbech, Cambs., and Tydd St. Mary, Lincs.; d. 2 Feb 1666/7.
