        Turner, Francis Gordon, son of John Turner, of Kensington, by Esther Cooper, daughter of the Rev. Edwin Cresswell Perry, Vicar of Seighford, Staffs; b. March 1, 1890; adm. Sept. 24, 1903 (H); K.S. (non-resident) 1904; elected to Trin. Coll. Camb. (with Samwaies) July 1908, matric. Michaelmas 1908; B.A. 1911; asst. master at Twyford School, Winchester, 1911-3; at Felsted School 1913-4; Head Master of Tormore School, Upper Deal 1919-55, and during that time sent 80 boys to Westminster, of whom 38 were elected into College; enlisted in 18th Batt. Royal Fusiliers Sept. 1914; Lieut. 13th Batt. Rants Regt. Jan. 14, 1915; Capt. Sept. 27, 1916; Brigade Major June 28, 1917; served in Gallipoli, Egypt and France 1915 until demob. Feb. 1919; mentioned in despatches; M.C. June 4, 1917; O.B.E. June 3, 1919; m. April 4, 1920, Mary Olivia Saffery, only daughter of Gordon Johnson, of Deal, Kent; d. 21 Nov. 1979.
