Wells, Reginald Iredale, son of Arthur William Wells, of Harlesden, Middlesex, by Eliza Maria, daughter of Michel Weyler, of London; b. Sept. 20, 1890; adm. Jan. 15, 1903 (H); left July 1909; Lond. Univ.; B.Sc. 1915; 2nd Lieut. 3rd Batt. South Staffs Regt. (S.R.) Aug. 23, 1915; served with 8th Batt. in Flanders and France 1917-8; attached to Wireless Experimental Establishment, R.A.F., from 1918 until demob. as Capt. 1920; Assoc. M.Inst.E.E. 1918; Assoc. Inst. of Physics 1920; in the Radio-Telegraphy Section of the Air Ministry, Development and Research Establishment, since 1920; M.I.E.E. 1939; served in the Royal Aircraft Establishment 1922-38, in the Directorate of Communications Development, Ministry of Aircraft Production, 1938-40, H.Q. No. 80 Wing R.A.F. 1940-5, on British Air Commission, Washington, 1945-7 and in H.Q. No. go Group R.A.F. since 1948; a Principal Scientific Officer; Air Ministry 1941; I.S.O. 1956; retired 1957; d. 24 July 1984.
