YELVERTON, GEORGE AUGUSTUS, 2ND EARL OF SUSSEX, elder son of Talbot Yelverton, 1st Earl of Sussex KB FRS FSA, and Lucy, dau. of Henry Pelham, Lewes, Sussex; b. 27 Jul 1727; succ. father as 2nd Earl of Sussex 27 Oct 1731; adm. Jun 1737; left 1744; Grand Tour [since member Soc. Dil. ]; resided in Paris Oct 1748 – Aug 1749 as joint hostage with Lord Cathcart for delivery of Cape Breton to France; Lord of the Bedchamber to Frederick, Prince of Wales Oct 1749-51, and to George III as Prince of Wales 18 Apr 1751; member, Society of Dilettanti 1750; d. unm. 8 Jan 1758.
