CURTEIS, JEREMIAH LINTEN, son of Samuel Curteis, and his first wife Mary, dau. of Felix Kadwell, Rolvenden, Kent; bapt. Tenterden, Kent 20 Sep 1723 (IGI); adm. (aged 13) Jun 1737 (as Jeremiah Curteis); left 1739. [Supplement identifies him as son of William Curteis, and Rebecca ---, bapt. St. Paul, Covent Garden 7 Dec 1723, but this identification is wrong, for in the baptismal register the father’s surname is spelled Curtis (sic), and the identification of him as a member of the Curteis family from Tenterden seems preferable, although he was not the Jeremiah Curteis who was the father of Edward Jeremiah Curteis (qv)].
