Robert Southey's copy, dated 1791 when at Westminster. A note on the rear flyleaf records 'Wm Macmath 23rd May 1912; From library of Mr John O. Gibb. The same hand has copied an excerpt from Southey's entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. At pp. 32-33 is an insert letter from Thomas Thorp, antiquarian bookseller, dated 16th February 1938, notifying the school of the volume and offering it for sale. This offers a likely indication of when and how the item came to enter the school's collection.
