Thomas Cressey, Fulsby on Bain, Lincs.; bapt. 10 Nov 1662; at school under Busby (Progymnasmata, 1714, 11); Trinity Coll.Cambridge, adm.fellow commoner 13 Jun 1680, matr.1680 ; adm.Gray’s Inn 18 May 1682; succ. father as 2nd baronet Jul 1684; an amateur architect, building extensively on his estate at Bunny, Notts.; JP Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire 1684, High Sheriff Nottinghamshire 1689; passionately fond of wrestling and until middle age a vigorous runner and change-ringer; established an annual wrestling competition in Bunny Park; author, Progymnasmata, 1714, and other works; m.1st, 1686 Elizabeth, only dau. of John Sampson, Beraston [Breaston ?], Derbs.; m. 2nd, 7 Feb 1727/8 Jane, dau. of George Barnet, Alderman of York; d. 29 Mar 1741.
