Westminster School Football XI 1897-8

A set of 50 glass plate negatives showing scenes of the school, school life and the surrounding area. Stored in the original wooden box. The title "Westminster" has been written on the lid, and each end of the box is marked with a letter "K". The lid opens on a hinge, and there is a numbered list of titles pasted to the inside of the lid. Wooden dividers hold the slides upright and apart from each other.

The complete caption reads: "The Eight Oared Outrigger in which the Gentlemen of Westminster School beat the Etonians in 1m.5sec. in the match from Barker's Rails to Putney Bridge on Tuesday July 29th 1845. Dedicated to the Gentlemen of Westminster school by their most obedient servants Noulton & Wyld". Reproduced as Plate 15 in ' Westminster School' (L.E. Tanner, 1934).
