Administrative history

Silversmiths. Established in Sheffield in 1775. Incorporated as Mappin Brothers Ltd in mid-19th Century. Opened London showroom in 1849. In 1860, John Mappin broke away from Mappin Brothers and started Mappin & Company. He was joined 2 years later by his brother-in-law George Webb. Mappin, Webb and Co was formed in 1864. Mappin & Webb Ltd was first recorded in 1889, based in Sheffield. The original London business, Mappin Brothers, was aquired by Mappin & Webb Ltd in 1903.

Cup with engraved school crest. Inscription: 'Swimming Standards'. Engraved with winning houses 1960-1963. Prince's Plate. Not loaded. No cover. Awarded 1960-63. Was listed twice as WS.TRO.0001.113 - latter record deleted.
